OPA2376: Detail of abnormal behavior concerned with power supply failure

Part Number: OPA2376

Hi team!

Could you please let me know the behavior of your product in following cases?

Case1:
The IN+ and IN- pins are entered the signal with Voltage from 0.5V to 5.0V, without power supply. (V+ = V- = GND))
If the device will be receive damage, please let me know the detail of the damage mode?
Case2:
The power supply voltage is over absolute power supply voltage. it means that "V+ is over 7V and V- is same to GND".
If the device will be receive damage, please let me know the detail of the damage mode?

Best Regard

  • Case 1.

Since there are reverse-biased ESD diodes between each input pin and the rails, applying more than 0.5V at the input pins with power supply pins grounded will forward-bias ESD diode that may result in damage UNLESS the input current thru the diode is limited to 10mA or less (for example with 500ohm series resistor (R=5V/10mA).

    Case 2.

If the total supply voltage, Vsup_total = (V+)-(V-), is greater than 7V, the part may get damaged.  With (V-) = 0, this means you may NOT use (V+)>7V.
