INA202: Schematic review & question

Part Number: INA202

Hi,

The customer wants to review the schematic.

It is a circuit for the purpose of using only the OPamp function without using the comp function.

1. Is there no problem with IC even if comp_out is opened?

2. Is there a precaution when using only op-amp?

  • Hi Cho,

this will work, provided you make a direct and very short connection between the "CMPin" pin and the "/RESET" pin to the "GND" pin of INA202. Take care that no heavy load current and no load current spikes are flowing across these connections, as then the input voltages at the "CMPin" pin and the "/RESET" pin could leave the allowed input voltage range of "GND -0.3V".

And don't forget the supply voltage decoupling cap of INA202 Relaxed

  • Hello CHO SR,

Thanks for the question and using the E2E forum.

I agree with Kai, because the comparator is open-drain, there is no problem with leaving COMP_OUT floating.

Secondly, because the current sense amplifier and comparator are different blocks in the device, there are no extra precautions needed if your simply using the amplifier with no need for the comparator.

Please reach out if you have any further questions.
