INA181-Q1: Unidirectional low side current measurement with two different current sense amplifiers for charge & discharge to improve resolution

Part Number: INA181-Q1

  • Hi,

Would there be frequent switching between the two modes of operation? As you mentioned, one of the two amplifiers will be saturated during either charging or discharging. You may refer to this post for some details regarding recovery time of this device if it is a concern.

Since the devices are being used at ground side, the lower end of the common mode voltage spec, -0.2V, matters more. It is not a problem when operating in steady state. During mode-switching, there could be high transients however. It is a good idea to find a shunt with low parasitic inductance, as well as minimize PCB trace inductance during layout.
