BOOSTXL-3PHGANINV: Can BOOSTXL-3PHGANINV work at input voltage range in 7.5V?

Part Number: BOOSTXL-3PHGANINV
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5017

In datasheet sluubp1a BOOSTXL-3PhGaNInv Evaluation Module User's Guide, i find the following describtion "wide input voltage range 12V to 60V "

but i according to the Schematics in sluray0a, the LM5017's minium operating voltage is 7.5V, so i wonder if BOOSTXL-3PhGaNInv could work at voltage of 7.5V?

  • Shaoxing,

You are correct that the LM5017 should still operate correctly at a input voltage of 7.5V, but the designers most likely made the decision to bound the input voltage to 12V for a reason. It may be that this will work, as I don't see anything immediately obvious that would cause issues, but you may see outputs outside the bounds of the original design (accuracy, efficiency, etc.), as you are operating outside the designs defined region.
