  • Hi Katsumi,

have you ordered the LMV321 from an authorized TI's distributor?

    Kai

  • Hello Katsumi,

If you suspect parts are counterfeit, please follow the steps at the following link.

    https://www.ti.com/support-quality/quality-policies-procedures/anti-counterfeit.html

    Best,
    Jerry

  • Hello Kai

    Thank you for your feedback.

The uploaded photos were not purchased from an authorized retailer.

It was purchased from the market of market distribution.

I judge the authenticity by the appearance and the X-ray photograph.

However, I can't judge because I don't own the same Moisture Level 2.

  • Hello Jerry

    Thank you for your feedback.

The Texas Instruments (TI) Customer Support Center you pointed out was aware and requested an authenticity check by entering, but the diagnosis was refused because it was not purchased from an authorized retailer.

I also requested that I provide an X-ray photograph, but I received a reply that I do not have a customer support center.

  • Hey Katsumi,

Unfortunately, per TI policy we are not able to support devices purchased outside of our authorized retailers.

    https://www.ti.com/ordering-resources/distributors.html

    From the above link-

"Semiconductor products purchased outside of TI’s authorized distribution network, including through brokers, independent distributors, or online marketplaces (sometimes referred to as the “gray market”), may be counterfeit, modified, beyond TI’s recommended shelf life, or improperly stored or handled. Accordingly, TI does not provide warranty coverage or customer support for semiconductor products purchased outside of TI’s authorized distribution network."

    Best,
    Jerry

  • Hey Jerry

    thank you for the advice

    I don't expect TI's warranty.
The purpose was to know if what I bought from the market was genuine or fake.
Is there anyone who can judge the real fake by looking at the X-ray photograph?

  • Hey Katsumi,

We aren't able to provide customer support on devices bought outside of TI's authorized distribution network. Even if we did confirm or deny the authenticity of a single device, we have no way to assure the rest of the reel is genuine.

I'm sorry that I am unable to help further.

    Best,
    Jerry

  • Katsumi-san,

Based on the burry X-ray and top side symbol, these part are consistent with TI product. That just means I have no evidence to prove not TI.

In many similar cases, I have asked why there was concern enough to X-ray? Is there some specific electrical application concern?

In every previous case, I never got an answer.

  • Hey Jerry

Thank you for all the information and advice.

  • Hey Ron

    Thank you for information.

We will inform you of the result of comparing what was purchased from the market distribution and what was purchased from the regular route.

The authorized distributor Macnica also said that this could be a fake. Please refer to the attached document.

When I reported it to a supplier in the market and negotiated a return, I said that I wanted evidence that TI judged it to be fake, so I am in trouble because I can not return it.

Is there any evidence that the product I purchased from the market is genuine?

  • Katsumi,

The different die shapes are normal. It is a result of product change notice from year 2019. The smaller die is the implementation of the approved PCN.

  • Hey Ron

    thank you for your answer
I am aware of PCN information.
I trust that Ron's answer is correct.

I want a certificate that the X-rays are genuine. I would like a certificate from TI or a TI web page with X-rays.
Do you have proof of information?

    From the following PCN information
TI has announced PCNs for additional assembly and manufacturing sites.
The PCN states that the product may be changed to MSL2 with additional fab sites (FRAB) and new assemblies and test sites (HFTF).
Manufacturing and assembly site changes that cause X-ray differences, manufacturing sites affect mold modifications, materials and designs, and AT sites affect assembly materials, processes and frame designs.

  • Katsumi,

I don't know if a certificate is even possible. You could ask your parts supplier for this order. Consider using the TI store for future purchases.

  • Hey Ron

    thank you for the advice

Thank you for answering that the X-ray is correct for TI products. I trust you

Based on the burry X-ray and top side symbol, these part are consistent with TI product. That just means I have no evidence to prove not TI.

However, in order for my company to adopt marketable products, I need information and materials to prove your answer.

This is because marketed products are procured from suppliers other than manufacturers or authorized distributors. This is because it is not covered by the manufacturer's warranty.

Since the source is not unknown, there are many illegal products. Therefore, we place importance on checking X-rays.
The electrical confirmation is after that.

    You're a TI engineer and you're saying it's a real TI product, so I'm sure you're right.
However, I would like more information and materials to prove that it is genuine.
Is there any such information or material?

  • Katsumi,

Here is why I say it appears to be real.

Top symbolization appears to be correct.

Lead frame shape appears to be correct.

Die size size appears to be correct.

Die rotation appears to be correct.

Bond wire locations appears to be correct.

I looked at the many aspects above.  It looks correct to me.

If you remove the capsulation and provide a high resolution photo of the die, I could check that too.

  • Hey Ron

thank you for your answer. Regarding the contents below, it would be nice if there was something that could be referred to in the material or Web information, but is there anything that can be referred to?
I trust your answer comments, but as a rule of my company I need proof materials.

Lead frame shape appears to be correct.
Die size size appears to be correct.
Die rotation appears to be correct.
Bond wire locations appears to be correct.

I would like to present the material that illustrates the following of X-rays.
    ・Lead frame
    ・ Die size
    ・ Die bond
    ・ Bond wire

    Can you show me?

  • All of this data is confidential, so I can not supply it.

  • Hey  Ron

    thank you for your answer.
I understand that it is your company's confidential information.

I will show your answer to the distributor Macnica, listen to Macnica's opinion, and make a hiring decision at my company.

Thank you for your polite response so far.
