INA220EVM: How to read register value

Hello there,

I have questions regarding INA220EVM. Please kindly advise.

(1) Could you let me know how to read a register that is NOT listed in datasheet? I want to read the value of F2h register because of customer's system requirement, but it looks EVM only shows five registers that are specified in datasheet.

(2) In GUI, there's a function called 'Control and Measure Bits' (USB Controls > Control and Measure Bits). Could you provide more information on how this works?

    Hi,

    (1) You’re correct, the GUI software normally only accommodates the product’s valid registers. It might be possible to create a customized version based on the release software. You can find it in the EVM folder if you want to investigate.

    (2) This panel shows the GPIOs’ of the USB DIG board, these signals are not connected to the INA219EVM.

    Hi Guang,

    Could you provide more information on the customized version?

    I can find (1) EVM software (sboc297) and (2) EVM source code (sboc298) from the EVM folder. I believe you refer to (2) in order to create a customized version of EVM software. I have no clue on how it should be done with multiple .frm, .csv, and so on.

    Hi Ella,

    Yes the source code would be the starting point, if you want to create a customized version. Though I personally haven’t worked with this software.

    I researched a little bit into the source code, it appears it was developed with Visual Basic about 15 years ago. We do not support software customization in general and this platform in particular, especially if the work is not directly related to our product due to the significant resources involved. There might be rare exceptions, but please reach out via email with business justification if you want to pursue further. We can evaluate based on this information.
