TLV2371: Is the output protected against short circuit?

Our customer would like to know if the output of TLV2371IDBVR is protected against a short circuit of about 150mA?

There is no protection; exceeding the absolute maximum rating of 100 mA can damage the device.

Hi Cedrick,

a simple current limiting resistor at the output of OPAmp can do the trick.

Can you show a schematic?

Cedrick,

The op amp provides all the current it can during a short. The current and the power, voltage loss multiplied by current, can easily overheat and damage the device.

Low supply voltage is safer for shorts within supply rails because the current and power will be much less. An output series resistor also works.
