TLV1704-SEP: Package pinout

Part Number: TLV1704-SEP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV1704, LM339

The Layout drawing shown in Section 10.2 of the data sheet has the labels for CH1 and CH2 swapped from the pinout drawing in Section 6.  I assume the drawing in Section 6 is correct as this matches other versions of the TLV1704.

I realize that this doesn't really matter since the channels are the same, but just wanted to confirm which drawing was correct and highlight it so the typo can be corrected in the next data sheet revision.

  • Hello Mark,

True. There are two pin-outs floating around - but both are electrically the same.

There is the original National Semiconductor pin-out, that has channel 2 on pin 1 (the "outer" left comparator.) This is the most common quad comparator pin-out referenced.

Then, for some reason lost to time, Texas Instruments swapped the positions channels 1 and 2 on their LM339 family way back in 1979.

The 10.1 drawing came from the TI LM339 datasheet, so it has channels 1 and 2 swapped.

The figure 5 pin-out drawing is correct (the original NSC pinout), though the table has some issues...grr..

We'll fix it in the next revision. Thanks for pointing it out!
