ALM2402-Q1: Phase reversal

Part Number: ALM2402-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ALM2402F-Q1

Hi Team,

The datasheet of ALM2402F-Q1 stated that it has no phase reversal. Our customer would like to confirm if a similar device,  the ALM2402-Q1, has no phase reversal as well.

Regards,

Danilo

  • Hi Danilo,

ALM2402-Q1 and ALM2402F-Q1 are very similar in design, but the slew rate of the power amplifiers are somewhat different (I believe that ALM2402-Q1 has no phase reversal in design either.). The slew rate in ALM2402-Q1 is rate at 0.17V/usec, while ALM2402F-Q1 is rated up to 3.4V/usec.

These ICs are typically used for resolver application. Please let me know your design requirements, since ALM2402-Q1 may not meet the BW requirement for your application. In other words, ALM2402-Q1 may not directly replace ALM2402F-Q1 for a resolver application. Please let us know.

    Best,

    Raymond

  • Hi Raymond,

Here is the response of our customer.

Thank you very much for the quick reply. Since I am developing an avionic system I ask you if it is possible to get a major evidence about the no phase reversal of ALM2402-Q1(like a graph if possible). Thank you, again.

    Regards,

    Danilo

  • Danilo,

ALM2402-Q1 is based on the same circuit topology as ALM2402F-Q1.  For this reason, it does NOT have a phase inversion when the input common-mode voltage is taken beyond its linear range and its Vin vs Vout plot looks as below.

However, please be aware that the inputs are clamped with 7V Zener diodes referenced to a negative rail.  Thus, taking the input Vcm more than 7V above (V-) will result in high input current limited only by 10kohm RN and RP series input resistors as shown below.
