INA201: Regarding rise time for the RESET

Hello team,

Regarding 7.3.3 from the datasheet.

The customer want to use 12V supply and 11.6V RESET.

What rise time is appropriate?

In addition, do you have some sort of formula to calculate rise time for desired supply voltage and reset voltage?

    This condition is not at risk of comparator glitches. The datasheet doesn’t state explicitly, but the two examples cited in that section alluded to the fact that the combination of high supply voltage and low RESET voltage is a situation that is more prone to the problem. And a longer rise time is necessary to prevent glitches.

    When both are 12V, LPF is not required. Although I think it is still a good idea to have the footprint for one. Unfortunately there is not a formula for this.

    The customer is experiencing an issue with 12V supply and 11.6V RESET configuration.

    After it detected over current, it keeps detecting over current even when RESET is HIGH and the current acutually settled.

    Therefore the customer wants to insert LPF to the RESET pin and need the rise time for the LPF.

  • Hi Kei,

    After load current settles below threshold, if RESET is stable, we shouldn’t see output glitches.

    If customer continues to have issues, it might be a good idea to inspect voltage waveforms to make sure nothing else is going on.
