OPA4H014-SEP: opa4h014

Part Number: OPA4H014-SEP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMP461

I need to design a circuit using a temperature sensor +opamp. The temp sensor chosen is 1n6642. And the supply to the opamp is 5V, The output of the opamp is given to the adc of atsam controller. How can design it

  • Hi Arjun,

Do you have an op amp temperature sensor design in mind, and is your design limited to just the OPA4H014 and 1N6642 diodes? Likely, a discrete high performance temperature sensor is going to require additional active components to realize a practical implementation. That could be a problem if Space rated components are required.

The OPA4H014-SEP is not going to be a good choice for a single +5 V supply application; it is not optimized for low voltage use and it limitations become evident. For example, its common-mode voltage range, Vcm, is  (V–) – 0.1  to (V+) – 3.5 V ( TA = –40°C to 125°C). Therefore, the Vcm range is -0.1 V to +1.5 V with a +5 V supply, which will likely be a problem, You probably need to be considering a low voltage op amp for the application.

There are highly accurate, self-contained temperature sensors available such as TI's temperature sensor product line. Here is an example of a Space rated temperature sensor, TMP461:

Let us know what you are thinking. Do note that the Temperature Sensor Products are supported by another TI product division.
