INA219: INA219A vs INA219B Replacement Consideration

Part Number: INA219

Hi expert,

Customer used INA219A originally and plan to build in INA219B as 2nd source. It looks B grade has higher accuracy and should be no problem to replace A grade.

Just want to double confirm can we use the same HW circuit and SW config for both INA219A&INA219B? Is there anything else regarding HW/SW differences we need to pay attention? I see the offset are different, will that cause calibration value also different?

Regards,

Allan

  • Hey Allan,

There are no HW/SW/FW modifications needed when switching between INA219A and INA219B. The only difference between them are the accuracy specifications.

Yes offset will be better, but the calibration register value is not dependent upon this. If you are referring to a manual calibration, of course every device would need its own offset cal value determined at some point in manufacturing flow or done every time on power up.

    Sincerely,

    Peter
