LM2902LV: +/- 5VDC on the power pins with no failure to date

Part Number: LM2902LV
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM2902

Hi,

Noticed that these parts are 6VDC max rating, but we have +/-5V on the pins without any failure. How likely is this to fail and if so, what would happen internally that would cause it to fail due to the over-voltage?

Thanks,

Kevin

  • Hey Kevin,

This will destroy the part, violation of the absolute maximum rating may not initially catastrophically destroy the part but we do not support operation outside of the absolute maximum table.

Are they sure they don't have LM2902 populated on the board instead of LM2902LV?

    Best,
    Jerry
