INA240: How to calculate accuracy of INA series

Part Number: INA240

Hi Expert,

For current sensing, customer usually give a target current accuracy, for example 0.01%. If I only use ADC,  the accuracy should be 1/2LSB(~14Bit ADC for 0.01%).

I want to know, when I use a INA240+14Bit ADC, how to calculate the accuracy?

Thank you.

Eason

  • Hi Eason,

this is explained in detail in section 8.4.4 of datasheet.

  • Hello Eason,

I agree with Kia and that is the most complete way to calculate as it also Reference Error.  We do have some calculators.  On the INA240 product page you can scroll down and see a calculator.  Keep in mind that the largest source of error could be your Rshunt.

Also there are other calculator you could use seen here.

This Excel calculator provides a comparison between two and five of our standard current sense amplifiers, delivering a chart containing the basic parameters of each device. This calculator also takes system condition inputs from users such as common-mode voltage, supply voltage, shunt resistor (...)
