LM119QML-SP: LM119WRQMLV laser marking

Part Number: LM119QML-SP

Hi there,

Our design team bought the parts LM119WRQMLV SMD# 5962R9679801VHA from TI online for a new design.  However, during our internal inspection we detected the laser marking are obviously inconsistent in depth??

Pls check the photos as below,  some of them look dark, some look light.  our QC is concerned about the parts might have instability quality problem, could you pls explain about the reason for this problem? thanks

  • Hello Jessie,

It is not necessarily an indication of a quality issue. We have not heard of any correlation between markings and performance.

Multiple laser marking machines are used to increase throughput, as it does take a second or two to mark a device.

The QML parts go through multiple electrical and mechanical tests and inspections, so the markings should not be an indicator of performance.

I'll check with our packaging folks for their comments.

  • Hello Jessie,

The ceramic parts are ink marked.

These parts are also ink marked. We don’t believe there is any reliability issue with these, the brightness is likely a cosmetic feature.

I am still awaiting a response from one more person at the assembly site to confirm. Ink would rise above the surface rather than pit.

  • Hello paul,

Thanks for keeping tracking for this issue.

We soldered the parts to the board without functional problems have been reported so far, but I confirm these parts are laser marking rather than ink marked :) . Still,  if you might get any feedback,  anything, pls let me know so i can put it on file.

    Thanks, jc
