INA253: ina253-A2 Noise

Part Number: INA253

I am measuring about 15 mv Peak to Peak of noise in the 50 Khz region on the output. This seems to be in the chips spec. However it is being used as a feedback signal and is driving some oscillation. Where is the best place to filter the signal, at the SH to IN junctions or on the output?

  • Hi Jim,

Typically the best place to filter out high frequency noise is at the SH to IN junction, especially if the Common Mode (CM) input voltage is stable. Otherwise, if the CM voltage is PWM, mismatch of the filtering components may introduce unwanted distortions, which could defeat its purpose. Consequently, filtering on the output may be a better option.

With stable CM voltage, you could implement both. The input filter could take out higher frequency disturbances to prevent it from aliasing to low frequency, while the output filter can have a narrower BW to cut off 50KH noise.

    Regards, Guang
