THS3217: Device gets hot

Hello E2E,

Our customer made an engineering board with the THS3217.
After power on, the package of THS3217 get hot reach 60-deg.
The output is open.(non-load)

Please let me know why the device gets hot?

I looked previous post on E2E.

Well with no output signal the device us burning about 800mW

If you can find an ambient to case thermal impedance that will give you the case temp - and that will depend on if you attached the thermal pad to a hit spreading plane.

But say the ambient is 25C, then the 35 C rise you are seeing implies 44C/W. Not too unexcpected perhaps.
