TLV1805: isolation alternate

Hi Team,

I`m using TLV1805 in AC EV charger for control pilot signal, but I want to implement an isolated Control pilot signal.

Please, suggest us with the suitable solution.

Hi Tarun,

where exactly do you want isolation? And how much isolation do you want? Please give more details on your application.

Would an optocoupler work?

Referring to TIDA-010071 TLV1805 circuit

required isolation >=2.5kV on control Pilot OUT signal.

Yeah, an optocoupler will work, if it full fill the requirement.

Hello Tarun,

We do not have, nor are we planning, any isolated comparators.

The die cost would be prohibitive for such a simple function.

An opto-isolator is still the most effective solution for this application.

Hello Tarun,

That is a outside of our product expertise. There are many types from many manufacturers and your system and regulatory requirements will determine what device is appropriate.

I would start with the Fairchild/On Semi FOD817 opto-isolators used in the TIDA you mentioned above. That is a pretty typical LED + Phototranstor type opto-coupler.
