TLV3601: the difference between toggle frequency and minimum pulse width

Part Number: TLV3601
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA855

Dear team,

Could you please generally explain the the difference between toggle frequency and minimum pulse width in the datasheet? it seems the same thing for me.

For example, in my TOF system, if I want to convert the pulse from OPA855 whose pulse width is about 1.5nS, which spec should i look for? the 1.25nS in the minimum pulse width? or the 1/325MHz = 3.02nS from the toggle frequency?

Best regards

Zhihong Huang

  • Hi Zhihong,

the one is valid for sine waves and the other for square waves (pulses).

Can you give more details on your signal (amplitude, period, duty cycle,...)? Eventually a scope plot?

  • Hi Zhihong,

The maximum toggle frequency is the maximum frequency the outputs can toggle and therefore limit the maximum frequency of the input signals can be applied to the comparator. Minimum pulse width is the narrowest pulse width that the comparator can accept before the outputs starts to distort and fail. What is the period of your pulse and duty cycle of your input?
