INA229-Q1: Quiescent current needed for a single conversion

Part Number: INA229-Q1

Dear team,

We are promoting INA229-Q1 to my customer for automotive BMS application, they said that quiescent current of the IC is high when in normal mode, they require 250uA quiescent current. I saw from datasheet that this device supports single conversion triggering from shutdown mode. Would like to know the extra current needed for this conversion to see if we can achieve low quiescent current. Thanks!

  • Hello Abraham,

Here is a snip from the datasheet that shows the current usage in both conversion and shutdown mode:

So, you will use about 2.8µA when in shutdown, and 640µA when doing a conversion. Your total current will be the average of those two values over time.  Since you have tight power restrictions, you may want to use the max values instead of the typical values when determining if this device works for you.

    Regards,

    Mitch
