INA186: Input bias current reduction

Part Number: INA186

Is it possible to reduce the input bias current of the INA186 using the following methods...

1. Disabling the device with the ENABLE pin ?

2. Switching off the power supply at the pin 1 (VS) (using an analog switch).

Thanks.

  • Hi Tony,

have you seen figures 6-6 and 6-7 of datasheet?

    Kai

  • Thank you Kai.

The Figure 6-7 is exactly what I was looking for but must have overlooked it.

So for my future reference...would the residual leakage when the device is disabled be due to INA186 input ESD protection ?

Also...would removing the power rail from the VS pin have any additional affect in reducing bias current any further ?

    Thanks.

  • Hi Tony,

Glad you found figures 6&7 helpful (thank you Kai!). Regarding the other questions, I agree the residual would be mostly due to ESD cells. But the input circuitry likely can’t be completely cut off either.

I don’t think removing power supply will help with reducing Ib further.

    Regards, Guang
