AMC3330-Q1: how to understand CLR and CPG parameters of datasheet?

Part Number: AMC3330-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AMC3330

Hello Sir:

I'm not sure how to understand the CLR and CPG parameters.

Because I check the package footprint, the pin clearance is around 7.6mm.

And AMC3330Q1 spec shows CLR and CPG ≥8mm, and which can works on 1700VDC.

According to IEC 60664-1, material group II which minimum creepage distance should be around 11mm on 1600V application.

Would you please explanation this gap between TI datasheet and IEC 60664-1 rule?

And how to understand these two parameters?

Looking forward your feedback.

Thanks a lot.

  • Hi Statham,

Can I ask where you are getting your 7.6mm from on the clearance of the AMC3330-Q1?  The IEC 60664-1 numbers are based on RMS voltage, so the 1700V DC noted in the AMC3330 datasheet would the ~1200V RMS level.  We're also looking at Material Group I in the datasheet.
