INA220: Vs max values

Part Number: INA220

Hi expert,

my customer is using INA220, in some application, the voltage will be 6.15V, any risk?

could we support duration 4us and 6V for Vs pin?

  • Hi Chi,

the voltage will be 6.15V, any risk?

We cannot guarantee the performance of the device if the absolute maximum ratings are violated. Permanent damage may occur if Vsupply > 6V.

could we support duration 4us and 6V for Vs pin?

As mentioned in comment (1) of the datasheet: "Exposure to absolute-maximum-rated conditions for extended periods may affect device reliability." Unfortunately the amount of time is not defined, so Vsupply should be at the absolute maximum rating for as little time as possible.

Why does the customer need Vsupply => 6V?

I would recommend adding a 5.5V protection Zener diode to keep the Vsupply within the recommended operating range.
