LM2901: Absolute Maximum Rating of Output Current

Part Number: LM2901

Dear Specislists,

My customer is evaluating LM2901D and has a question.

I would be grateful if you could advise.

---

In our circuit, Pin1 (1OUT) draws a large transient current (approximately 350ns) when switching from Hi-Z to Low.

The peak value is 20.8mA, and the absolute maximum rating exceeds Io(max) = 20mA.

Tens of ns exceeds 20mA, is this acceptable?

Please let me know if there is a spec for the pulse width when exceeding 20mA.

---

I appreciate your great help in advance.

Best regards,

Shinichi

  • Hello Shinichi,

The output is internally current limited to about 12-15mA. This can be seen in figure 7-35 graph. This should not be a problem.

If you are really concerned about the current, a series resistor can be added in series with the output to limit the peak current.

  • Hi Paul,

    Thank you for your reply.

In this condition, there is no risk to damage.

I will ask the customer to check if it works properly.

I appreciate your great help and cooperation.

    Best regards,

    Shinichi
