INA240: INA240A4 output pin maximum current

Hi Expert,

Could you provide INA240A4 output pin maximum current value? Since I can not find it in datasheet.

Customer is using INA240A4 and shunt resistor to make a current source, but once input current higher than specific value, output current keep and not change anymore. When input current lower than the specific current value, INA240A4 input current and output current will be proportional. So I guess maybe it is limit by INA240A4 maximum output current.

Hi Roy,

As Clemens pointed out, your suspicion is probably correct. The output current should be limited to below some mA.

Hi Clemens and Guang,

Sorry I have some problem in see this figure.

If Vs is 5V, and GND is 0V, and the output voltage is 3V(Vs-2&GND+3), which curve should I follow? Because Vs-2 and GND+3 seems have different output current.

Hi Roy,

If the resistor is connected between OUT and GND, then use the top half of the plot, ie, “Vs-2”. On the other hand if resistor is connected between OUT and Vs, use the other half.
