OPA2377: OPA2377

Part Number: OPA2377

Hi......................... Good Morning !

By using below opamp circuit, we are getting OPA2377IC failure.

Failure Case : -  By appliying input voltage of 2.5V,  we are getting o/p voltage as 2.6468 for OUTA  instead of 1.65V and OUT B is 2.1308 @ instead of 1.65V.

Pls let me know the failure reason or else in which case we will get this type of failure.

Failure Condition :- During normal working operation in Field. There is only one IC failed in this batch.

Failure component Batch Details : 19KCPXNG4 (OPA2377AIDR)

Vendor Name : Verical

Batch Qty : 875No's

And also failure component available with us.

  • Eeswari,

I have verified that your circuit is very stable with 77 degrees phase margin while the minimum recommended is 45 degrees - see below.

Running small-signal transient simulation confirms stable operation - see below.

For this reason, I  believe the part has been damaged by either ESD (electrostatic discharge) or EOS (overvoltage, e.g. supply overshoot) event.

  • Hai Marek Lis,

Power supply for the OPAMP is 3.3V instead of 5V. So please do the simulations with 3.3V also. Input signal range is 0 to 5V.

Also, there are three other OPA2377 Opamp channels on the board with same circuit working fine and not failed. So, I don't suspect supply overshoot.

Can we send the failed component to TI do the analysis.

    Regards
    Venkat

  • For as long as the circuit operates in its linear region, the stability of the circuit is NOT function of the supply nor input voltage.  Since you also state that there are multiple IC's powered from the same source, the more likely cause of the problem is ESD damage.
