INA234: IN+ and IN- reversed in a design

Part Number: INA234

In a design IN+ is connected to the lower voltage of the sense resistor and IN- is connected to the higher voltage. Will the INA234 circuit be able to measure a current?

  • It supports negative shunt voltages; see section 7.6.1.2 of the datasheet.

  • Hi Knut,

Thanks for the question and using the E2E forum.

As Clemens points out, the INA234 can measure negative currents (which means negative shunt voltages). It is actually design to work with differential voltages all the way from -26V to +26V.

I've also included a snippet of the section of the datasheet Clemens alluded to for your reference.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.
