LM339B: Internal protection diode

Hi All,

Customer is considering LM339B.
I am concerned about whether it is resistant to static electricity. Therefore, I am wondering whether to install an additional protection diode.
Installing protection diodes increases costs.

So, here's a question. Does LM339B have an internal protection diode?

Hello Ishiwata-san,

Yes. The "B" versions have dedicated ESD protection.They are good up to 2kV HBM.

However, the internal ESD protection is designed to protect the device during product assembly and is not intended to be the end-product protection.

The customer must provide external ESD protection from outside connections.

ESD protection theory is beyond the scope of this forum. An internet search will reveal many resources.
