LMH5485-SEP: information on engineering models and flight models

Part Number: LMH5485-SEP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM6172QML-SP,

Hi Team,

My customer is interested in using LMH5485DGKSEP, do we have the more information on the engineering models and flight models for this part?

Best Regards,

Ernest

  • Hello Ernest,

Do they need the engineering model for testing/prototyping? Then, is the customer looking to use the full space qualification for this part? I want to clarify the difference between the two: for example, the LM6172QML-SP has a QMLV option and a EM option. The difference is the full QMLV is qualified as radiation hardened assured and the engineering model is not.

    Thank you,
    Sima

  • Yes, customer needs the engineering model for testing/prototyping,

They are actually after the LMH5485-SEP, which does not have a rad-hard version at this time.  do we have the more information on the engineering models and flight models for this part?

  • Hi Sima, are you able to get the information on engineering models and flight models?

  • Hello Ernest,

I believe we should be able to provide one, but still unsure. I am looking into this with our team. I’ll be able to update you by Friday MST.

    Thank you,

    Sima

  • Thanks Sima,

Please provide these information as customer is urgently needing it.

  • Hello Ernest,

I talked to our systems engineer and mentioned that engineering models (EM) are units intended for engineering evaluation only. They are processed to a noncompliant flow. These units are not suitable for qualification, production, radiation testing or flight use. Parts are not warranted for performance over the full MIL specified temperature range of –55°C to 125°C or operating life. However, SP and SEP rated devices are radiation qualified and hardened, but at different radiation levels.

None of any -SEP amplifiers currently have an engineering model. Our team included, and have not planned to release engineering/flight models. However, we can discuss this further offline over email. I will contact you with a discussion between our space marketing/system experts.

    Thank you,
    Sima
