LM2901 alternate

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM2901, TLV2354, LMV339, TLV3404

I am looking for a device similar to the LM2901 where one input can exceed Vcc and the comparator will provide a proper state as long as the other input remains in the common-mode range ( see note 4 page 7 on the data sheet. What is different is that I need a wider Vicr than that on the LM2901.

I have found TLV339IPW and TLV2354IPW devices (in the same TSSOP pkg) but I am not sure that the above applies where one input can exceed Vcc per note 4 on page 7 in the LM2901 data sheet.

Thanks, Saeb

  • Hello Saeb,

Both LMV339 and TLV2354 allow inputs up to VCC. The LMV339 has ESD diodes on all inputs and outputs to ground and VCC, so the inputs must not exceed VCC.
I do not know the ESD structure of the TLV2354, but I will ask.

  • Hello Saeb,

The TLV2354 maximum input should not exceed the supply rail voltage Vcc. A quad comparator that allows for an maximum input level equal to Vcc+5V is the TLV3404. The big difference though is that this is a nanopower comparator and not as fast as the other comparators you are considering. It is available in the TSSOP package.
