OPA818: Transimpedance amplifier - maximum feedback and output current

Part Number: OPA818

Tool/software:

Hello Ti Team,

We are actually designing transimpedance amplifier for a SiPM sensor. We would use OPA818 but the current of the SiPM might be up to 50mA. The signal duration is 500ns and with an average interval between pulse of 1250ns.

Thanks you for your help,

Have a nice day,

Simon

  • Hi Simon,

    I have a few questions:
    1) What is the expected/ known capacitance of SiPM sensor?
    2) What opamp output voltage do you expect at min sensor current (assuming 0mA here), and at max sensor current (50mA)?

    Thank you,
    Aditya Gosavi

  • Few more question from my side ,

    3) The 50 mA current you mentioned is the current when opamp is okay to be saturated or is it max current which expects opamp's linear operation? If its saturation current please also let me know the max and min linear current you are expecting.

    4) Is there a SNR requirement during this Min current from SiPM.

    5) Also as you mentioned intervals between the pulses is 1250 ns, do you want to know the overdrive recovery behaviour of OPA818, i.e how fast the opamp will get out of saturation?

  • Hi Simon, just a gentle reminder...
