INA901-SP: Low side sense

Part Number: INA901-SP

Tool/software:

Can this CSA be used as a low side current sense amplifier?

I am in need of a rad hard/tolerant CSA to sense current on a -30V load. This is proving difficult to find an IC for this application. So, I was thinking I could use the INA901-SP as a low side CSA so the common mode voltage on IN+ and IN- will be essentially 0V. The datasheet only depicts typical uses of high side current sensing, but I don't see any mention of whether or not this configuration is required.

Will this work?

Thanks!

  • Hello,

The INA901-SP can be used low side. The recommended operating conditions of the device in the datasheet explicitly say that the common-mode range of the device is -15V to 65V, so operating at 0V will be fine.
