Dear TI experts,

My customer considers current sense application in PTC heater control module.

My customer found the diagram below in TI.com, and additionally drew op amp on the right of the diagram.

And my customer want to sense the current of PTC heater itself. They expect that maximum high voltage is about 600V.

Could you recommend the right device for this purpose?

Hi Chase,

You have many options for this. Our shunt based devices (the INA series) can't typically handle that high of voltage on their own, but we have this reference design for the INA226 (https://www.ti.com/tool/TIDA-00639) that allows you to use it for a maximum of 600V. You can also use the INA260 with this design (https://www.ti.com/tool/TIDA-01608) for a floating input stage in order to operate at voltages up to 1kV.

We also have a family of magnetic based current sensors (the TMCS series). The TMCS1100 and TMCS1101 have a ±600V voltage isolation. The TMCS1123 and the TMCS1127 both have a 5kV(RMS) isolation.
