LMH6629: Is this device suitable as an SDR pre-amplifier for 0.1 to 160 MHz with unity 1-10dB gain?

The LMH6629 is a decompensated amplifier, which means it has a minimum gain requirement. For this part the compensation is selectable so that the minimum gain is either 4V/V or 10V/V. So it would work well for your 10dB case, but not for the 1dB setting. 

I'd suggest looking at our OPA856 as a potential alternative. The OPA856 has slightly higher gain at 0.9nV/rtHz, but it is unity gain stable. It should work in your gain switching configuration at both 1 or 10 dB.

Thanks Jacob, I'll look into the OPA856.

I downloaded the TI Spice application and tried installing it on my updated Windows 10 dev machine, but each time it hung up.  It looked like it would be more polished than ADI's LT-Spice, which is like out of the Ark!

Do you know if TI have anything similar to the ADI AD8000 op-amp?  I'm also looking at using that for an SDR pre-amplifier for 0-160 MHz.
