Hi,

On the first page of this datasheet, it appears that the ground is connected to the neutral.

Does this IC will work as expected without making this connection, or what is actually the correct way to connect to the mains voltage?

    Hi Shlomo,

    This device's main function is for zero cross detection of an AC signal, such as L-N. 

    Without making this connection, the input voltage would be floating with respect to the device and therefor undetermined.
