INA280-Q1: Output Filter

Part Number: INA280-Q1

I see in the INA280x-Q1 datasheet that the maximum recommended load capacitance is 500pF without an isolation resistor.  Is there any guidance on sizing the isolation resistor in order to support a larger output capacitance?

My goal is to add a low pass filter on the output with < 100 Hz corner frequency.  I am thinking a 10k series resistor to a 220nF capacitor (fc = 74Hz).  Will that work?

Thank you.

  • Hello Jessica,

The 10kΩ resistor should provide enough isolation that output oscillations should not be an issue. See this post for some guidance on the sizing. Generally the isolation resistor should be large when compared to the output impedance of the device. According to the datasheet, the maximum output impedance is under 100Ω, so I expect that the 10kΩ resistor should always be large enough to provide effective isolation.

Let me know if you have any more questions,
