AMC0380R-Q1: Difference between AMC0380R-Q1 and AMC0381R-Q1

Hi exparts,

I want to confirm the defference between AMC0380R-Q1 and AMC0381R-Q1. Datasheet shows AMC0380R-Q1 is for AC input and AMC0381R-Q1 is for DC input, but I couldn't find difference in Functional Block Diagram. Could you tell me about it? Is it possible to use AMC0380 for AC input or PMC0381 for DC input?

Hi Susami-san,

What project is this for? You cannot interchange the functionality of the AMC0380 and AMC0381. From the datasheets, you can see the differences in R1 and R2 as well as the input voltage ranges. We do not disclose all IP in the functional block diagrams.

Hi Tom,

I can understand AMC0381 is not work for AC input because of input voltage ranges, but I think AMC0380 can be also used for DC sensing (to reduce # of devices). If this isn't recommended, could you tell me the disadvantage of this use case? I want to deepen my knowledge about the structure difference.

OK, yes, you can use the AC part for DC measurements. You just loose some dynamic range.

Hi Tom,

If we compare AMC0380R06-Q1 and AMC0381R06-Q1, the positive input voltage range, Rin and R divider ratio are same. I felt there is no reason to use AMC0381 except for price aspect. Is this correct? Is there any disadvantage to use AC iso amp for DC voltage sensing?
