INA237: Layout and Schematic Review for PANW

Part Number: INA237

Hi Team,

Can you review the following instances of INA237 from Palo Alto Networks and provide comments if anything needs to be adjusted?

U239, U241, U242

Schematic: *removed for privacy

Layout: *removed for privacy

Best,

Rohit

  • Hello Rohit,

Here is my feedback for the schematic (also reviewed U240):

    • If measuring very small currents, you may want a cap across the inputs (around 1nF to 10nF), placed physically close to the device.
    • I don't see I2C pullup resistors, so I presume they are on another section of schematic or built into the processor.

I need to download a newer version of Allegro to view the .brd file, so I will do the layout review tomorrow.

    Regards,

    Mitch

  • Hey Rohit,

For the layout, you will want to change the connections to IN+ and IN- to be Kelvin connections. This is for all the INA237's in the layout, which is the 4 devices mentioned above, as well as U237 and U238. Right now they are just connecting to planes, which will cause errors in the measurement.

    Regards,

    Mitch
