[FAQ] INA186-Q1: INA186 - Abs Max ratings

The only time that the INA186 can handle voltages beyond the absolute maximum ratings specified in the datasheet is when the current at the pin is less than 5mA (see note 3 in the snippet below). 

If the current cannot be limited to less than 5mA then any voltage outside of the abs max ratings can cause damage to the device and therefore should be avoided no matter how short the duration. We cannot guarantee that the part will survive if the abs max conditions are violated.
