Peak Detector ability with INA226?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA226

Hi!

Can INA226 measure pulse current / voltage? Interesting low side sensing. It need with pulse adjusted load. I load = 0...20 A, V load = 5...30 V.

What solution will be available in hardware or software (in triggered mode)?

Thank's!

  • Hello Georgy,

While your system specifications are within the capabilities of the INA226 (low-side measurement, 5V<Vcm<30V), please ensure that the bandwidth is sufficient. The INA226's bandwith is only ~100Hz.

If you need a device that's a bit faster and has a built-in comparator, the INA200-208 family may be of interest. This is an analog-only solution, though. Also please be aware that the devices in that family require a sense voltage of >20mV for linear operation.

  • Hi, Pete!

Thank's You answer, It the INA226's bandwidth is only ~100Hz realised with the AVG bit settings 1024.  If averages eq. 1 or 4 there be more fast processing. In other side with time I have wide range My abilities, there no problem.

INA226 is unique device with digital output, and other necessary data.
