INA282 for measuring current on PV string

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA282, AMC1200, SN6501, AMC1204

Hi,

I want to use INA282 to measure the current flow on the PV string.

The current,Iload, is about 10A, but Vbus is about 600V.

Can I use INA282 for this environment?

  • Hi,

The INA282 cannot work with 600V common mode voltage.  To implement a current shunt monitor as you have indicated at 600V you will require an isolated approach...please look at AMC1200, it will require an isolated power supply.

  • Hi,

    Thanks for your quick reply.

I consider AMS1200 as you recommand.

For our system, the power of VDD1 of AMS1200 should be provided from right side, because we can not extract the power from left side itself, now. So I'm considering that SN6501 would be located on right side, and provide the power to VDD1 thru transformer, then TPS76950 is generating the power and give the power VDD1. Of cource , the transformer diection should be considered.

    My idea is right?

  • Hello Sangdo Lee,

Yes, your idea is right. If there is a power supply available on the ADC side (right hand side of the schematic in your previous post) then you can use it to feed the VDD2 pin of the AMC1200 and also generate an isolated power supply for the VDD1 side of the system (left hand side in the schematic on your previous post.)

Below is a schematic from one of our EVMs; please note that it exemplifies the idea you have although the EVM corresponds to the AMC1204 instead of using the AMC1200. The same principle of deriving an isolated power supply applies, though.

    Hope this helps.

    Best regards,

    Jose

  • Hi, Jose,

If I use low-side sensing manner, Vbus should be lower than 80V for INA282 also?
