INA198 Safe Operation

Hello Team,

I have 2 questions on the safe operation for the devices:

1. If Vin+, Vin- are connected to 60V input, but the supply voltage is 0V, would the operation be safe?

2. If yes, will there be any power consumption on the device?

Thank you very much !!!!

  • Natallia,

There are always internal, resistive paths where current can flow throw the device. Usually it's not much, but it's always possible.

I believe that it is ok to have voltage on the inputs with no power supply. Most of our current shunt monitors are isolated in this way, though the data sheet usually says that directly and this one does not. I make no guarantees and no statements about what shows up on the output or what the supply line will do if it is left floating.
