LMH6580, LMH6581 / about output number.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMH6580

Hi all.

The LMH6580/LMH6581 each has eight inputs and four outputs.

My customer ask me 8:1 SW over 140MHz.
Can my customer use this device as 8:1 SW?

This datasheet is described logic diagram.
So if my customer use this device as 8:1 SW, please tell me how to connect.

Best Regards,
Sho Ogane

  • Hello Sho Ogane,

To use the LMH6580 has 8 inputs, so it can be used 8:1.  To do this you would select one of the four output pins to be your output and then just leave the other three output pins floating.

The LMH6580 is controlled through a serial interface, so when using it as an 8:1 switch you would leave the three unused outputs set to the high impedance, disabled state.

To configure the LMH6580 to be an 8:1 switch: You connect your desired input sources to the 8 input pins and your desired one channel to one of the four output pins.  The other output pins should have a 100 Ohm resistor to ground, but can also be left floating, just make sure to keep them disabled.

  • Hi Loren san

    Thank you for the reply.

I understand the it can be used 8:1 and how to treat unused pin.
