INA188 in TIDA-01063

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDA-01063, INA149, AMC1200

Dear all.

TIDA-01063 measures an AC current, but can DC be gauged with the same Rogowski method?

Regards,
PAN-M

  • Hello PAN-M,

A Rogowski coil requires a time-varying current. Can you please give us some information about your application? Perhaps there is another solution. I'm specifically looking for the common-mode voltage, available supply voltage(s), load current range/direction, and output voltage requirement.
  • Pete
Please regard as this application is welding machine.
The current is more than 100A.
The shunt registance is too hot, and by a usual coil, the performance is ill-balance.
    Regards,
    PAN-M

  • Hello PAN-M,

Sorry, but I have some more questions:

What is the common-mode voltage? What power supplies are available for the amplifier? What shunt resistance are you currently using? Can you please clarify what you mean by 'ill-balance'?
  • Hi Pete,

    Our customer said;
P-N voltage is 282V typical, but they don' t know grand-fault voltage.
Also, they don't know grand-fault current.
A power for the amplifier can be made because this is new design.
The shunt registance is 2m-ohm, they use.
They ware try to Hole method current sensing, but the coil ballance is bad.

    Regards,
    PAN-M

  • Hello PAN-M,

If I understand the system correctly there are perhaps a couple solutions here. First, they may want to consider the INA149. Given dual +/-15V supplies it can accommodate +/-275V common-mode voltages. In this case you could use a single supply to accommodate for the larger common-mode voltage. Please refer to Figure 3 in the INA149 data sheet.

Another option could be the AMC1200. It has a fixed differential gain of 8V/V and can accommodate very large common-mode voltages because it is isolated. If this interests the customer please let me know. The AMC1200 is supported by a different group and I can move this thread to the appropriate forum.

    I hope this helps.
