Siddharth,

Shorts to positive supplies while output is sinking can damage the device and I do not have maximum current that will flow.
Shorts down to ground while souring current are OK for the device. The current varies with VCC.

What VCC are you using?

the datasheet specifies only 1.2mA output source current in table 7.5, i am not sure if this is the short circuit source limit as the value is very small, please confirm?

The output source current is always flowing when VCC is applied.
This current is well under 10mA and flows to output loads including any short to ground.
If the load doesn't use the current then the output sink NPN will pass it to ground.

Siddharth,

I have some curves collected. I will post them tomorrow.
I strongly bevice at 3.3V supply short to ground current would be well under 5mA for all units.

Siddarth,

For shorts to ground, the current will be less than 5mA regardless of TL971 of intention to drive high or low.
By ground I mean the VCC- pin. For single supply systems VCC- is ground.

Siddharth,

The TL971 is a class A amplifier as can be seen in the device schematic.

The input pins control the NPN sink driver.

The PNP source driver runs at a fixed current that is VCC dependant. The sourcing PNP does not react to the input pins.

This setup improves THD as there is no need for cross over or push pull matching.

Thank you very much Ron so the 3rd ccolumn of the excel sheet (Datasheet Lit#)indicates the datasheet no. ? For example if the Datasheet Lit# is SNOSBT3 then can we assume all the parts with this SNOSBT3 no. have same datasheet
