XTR105: design 4-20mA device from PRESSURE SENSOR

Part Number: XTR105
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: XTR117, XTR106, XTR115, XTR116

HI, I want to use XTR105 to design 4-20mA device. The OC18 PRESSURE SENSOR is input source. How about to connect  the XTR105?Do you have any suggestions for me?

So please advise me. Thank you.

  • Hello,

The XTR105 is a specialized device meant specifically for converting specified RTD temperature ranges directly to a 4-20mA output.  The XTR105 includes the RTD excitation currents, gain stage, and linearization circuitry required for RTD sensors.  Since you're not using an RTD sensor we recommend using a different XTR device.  The XTR106 is specifically designed for resistive bridge sensors and includes internal circuitry to help power, linearize, and amplify the resistive bridge signal.  If your OC18 sensor is already linearized then you may consider interfacing it with a generic voltage-input XTR device such as the XTR115, XTR116, or XTR117.

  • Thank you, I will try to use XTR106 for design.
  • Hi

In the attached file is our circuit, we use TI XTR106 to design 4-20mA water level indicator.

In the circuit ,the R1 adjust  for zero  and R2 for full scale. I am not sure if this design is ok, can you provide some suggestions?
Or we need to amplify the pressure signal(Output+/Output-)?
