TLV342: Output sink/source current with +3.3V and -2.2V power supply

Part Number: TLV342

Hi,

I see the X2QFN package is really small. With +3.3V and -2.2V power supply, if the output voltage is -2V DC, how much current can it sink and source? I need a 10/10mA under 75C operation temperature.

If the power rails are ±2.5V, what the sink/source current would be?

You could also recommend other small package for dual/quad channels. Smaller than TLV342 is welcome.

Thanks.

  • Di Wang,

Be sure that your supplies are well regulated and do not have overshoot because the supply is at the upper end of usage at 5.5V

To get 10mA at -2V with a -2.2V supply needs an on resistance of less than 0.2V/10mA = 20 ohms
The 2k ohm spec is max of 85mV. So max R-on is 85mV/1.25mA = 68 ohms.
So worst case current should be 0.2V/68 ohms = 2.94mA
Figure 5 and 6 in data sheet show typical output curves.
The data sheet tables for 5V operation apply in this case.

The power dissipation while sinking current is (VOUT - VCC-) / IOUT
The power dissipation while sourcing current is (VOUT - VCC+) / IOUT
    Do this for each channel
Then add in no load power, (VCC+ - VCC-) * ICC
Expected temperature rise is PD * 167C/W
