LMP8601-Q1: LMP8601

Part Number: LMP8601-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMP8601, INA240

Dear All

I need to sense current in a high side switched inductive load. To protect IC +IN and -IN inputs from going negative at switch off beyond the specified voltage can I clamp them with diodes from each input to ground without any detrimental effects?

Regards

ik

  • Hi Ik,

There should not be any problems but there are some things you need to consider. Such as how are you limiting the current in the diodes and how that changes the input. Also, we are wondering what frequency and voltage transients you expect in the inputs when you are trying to make measurements. The LMP8601 have a CMRR of 83dB at 10kHz and this could be worse during transients. You can also consider our new INA240 device if you need to use a device that would have common mode transients at the inputs.
