INA203: Could you tell me maximum output current of OUT pin?

Guru 29690 points
Part Number: INA203
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA302,

Hi Team,

I think it is possible case connecting OUT to IN+ of CMP1(CMP2) with resistor divider(R3, R4) as the following figure 34.

Could you tell me maximum output current of OUT pin?
Is there recommended value for resistor divider (R3, R4) in this case?

The background of the question is my customer is currently considering resistor divider value.

Best Regards,
Yaita / Japan disty

  • Hi Yaita,

I would fist start by recommending the newer, INA302/303 devices. These devices are more accurate and simpler to program.
Should the solution above be unacceptable for you, please let me know and I can set this up in a lab to make some tests.
  • Hi Carlos-san,

Thank you for your suggestion however INA203/204/205 is lower price than INA302/303 so the former device is appropriate for my customer.
Should I recommend setting R4(low side of divider) around 6kΩ because Figure 34 shows R4=R6=6.04kΩ?
My customer just wants to know the recommended value for resistor divider so I believe the information above is sufficient for my customer.

    Best Regards,
    Yaita

  • Hi Yaita,

Thank you for providing additional information.
The output stage can source 1mA with minimum variation of the output voltage. If all you're interested in is the resistor calculation (and there are no considerations regarding the loading of the ADC on the output) any value greater than 2K is fine for the lower portion of the resistor divider

  • Hi Carlos-san,

It is all that is needed.
I really appreciate for your kind support!

    Best Regards,
    Yaita
