INA199-Q1: Continuous operating at maximum voltage (and a little bit beyond)

Part Number: INA199-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA199, INA282, , INA225-Q1, INA225

Fellows,

We are designing a circuit that should operate at nominal 24V. For current monitoring, our best option appears to be INA199.

Our concern is that our power supply will have a trim adjustment that typically could allow the but to go up to 26.4V.

Although we will probably be able to limit the trim adjustment so that integrators can't raise it higher than "some 25.4V", the question is: is there an alternative to INA199 without having to go all the way to something like the INA282?

Regards

Bruno

  • Hi Bruno,

Unfortunately, exceeding the 26V power supply of the INA199-Q1 is not an option. Hopefully you could get a successful trim below 26V.

Based on your selections and comments I will assume  you are looking for a voltage output device and INA282 sounds like an overkill. Maybe you can consider the INA225-Q1. Vs is up to 36V, voltage output, offset Voltage: ±150 µV (Max), programmable gain (25V/V, 50V/V, 100V/V, 200V/V).

  • Hello Mayrim,

Thanks for the reply. We confirmed that indeed we can limit the trim to below 26V. It will actually be limited to 24.6 just to give a little extra room from the nominal 24V, but won't go above that.

As for the INA225 suggestion, that's exactly the sort which I was looking for, thanks! - we will select it for another bus on the same project. For some reason I failed to spot that one when reading app note http://www.ti.com/lit/sg/slyb194c/slyb194c.pdf,
